We are currently seeking full-length fiction works up to 60,000 words. Please familiarize yourself with our focus to see if your Owl House Books is the right place for your manuscript.

A Little More About Us:

Blue Owl_ShutterIn General: As a highly selective press, we publish only 2-3 full-length works a year. Owl House Books specializes in literature that can be appreciated by all ages. We publish books that children will enjoy but that will also appeal to adults.

Are you a subsidized publisher? We are a royalty-based publisher. Our authors do not subsidize the publication of their book in any way. We do not currently offer advances; rather, we offer an above average royalty rate.

Storytellers representative of the work we seek would be: Tomm Moore, Rosalie K. Fry, Jean Craighead George, the folks at Pixar, Gary Paulsen, Natalie Babbit, Robert C. O’Brien, T. H. White, J. R. R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, and the Brothers Grimm.

Interwoven into the story, we seek the following themes:
  • Spirituality
  • Personal growth
  • Coming of Age
  • Mythos
  • Exploration of Cultures
  • The human connection with nature

Our Books

Our books are available worldwide. Distributed via Ingram. We publish in paperback, hardcover and e-book. Our audio editions are available on iTunes, Amazon, and Audible.com

Red OwlOur Respect for Authors

Every Editor in Owl House Books is also a working writer, as such we respect an author’s voice. We always like to ensure that our authors are pleased with the final product. Working under this philosophy, we involve our authors in the interior/cover design process. Furthermore, understanding how hard our authors work to compose the stories, we offer all our writers a generous 20% royalty contract.

Do you publish books from authors outside the USA?

At this time we only accept proposals from authors residing in the United States or the United Kingdom. While our titles are available worldwide, we simply don’t have the network to accept projects from others countries in the global community at this time. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. In time, we hope to be in a position to open ourselves to proposals from writers residing in other countries.

Putting Together Your Proposal

Although we appreciate hearing from our readers and prospective authors, postal mail requires a lot of packaging, paper mailing materials and fossil fuel to ship. In an effort to cut down on paper usage/waste, at present prefer electronic submissions sent to us at:
